Drop On Demand (DOD) inks are specifically designed for use with printers with Drop on Demand printheads. These are integrated valve large character. Some examples are Diagraph, Zanasi, and Marsh.

Continuous inkjet inks are used with Continuous inkjet printers and printheads. Examples of printheads these inks can be used in are Hitachi, Linx, Leibinger, Videojet, Markem, Image, Mathews, etc.
A variety of roll coder inks can be used on a variety of surfaces from porous to non-porous.
